How to set up and use MiFi hotspot devices if your camp location has slow or unreliable WiFi. Reference this only if you're experiencing connectivity issues and need to activate backup internet for your scholars' laptops.
Setup Instructions
Find the orange MiFi device in your supplies, then download the Solis app on your phone.
New MiFi (still sealed in plastic, or not appearing in the app)
- Open the Solis app and go to the Status section of the app.
- Tap Connect to Solis WiFi and then Set up new hotspot.
- Select your device and follow the on-screen setup instructions.
- Once setup is complete, go to the Shop section.
- Scroll to PAY-AS-YOU-GO and purchase 20 GB of data for $80 using the card on file.
Existing MiFi (previously used)
- Open the Solis app and go to the Shop section.
- Find your MiFi listed under registered devices (if you can't find it, follow the New MiFi steps above).
- Select USA Data, scroll to the PAY-AS-YOU-GO section, and purchase 20 GB of data for $80 using the card on file.
More Things to Know
- Each MiFi device supports a maximum of 10 laptops. If your camp has more than 10 scholars, you'll need to activate multiple devices. Plan accordingly before starting setup.
- You can top off data at any time. If you use up your 20 GB, purchase another 20 GB in the same way.
